These are a couple of patterns-one elaborate and one simple-that have been great this spring! Click on either picture to enlarge.

Recently I started using a large and colorful diver patten. It has taken some nice smallmouth but is notably effective on northerns. A few of you requested the pattern; here it is.

 

The second pattern is called a Hairy Canary. This fly morphed out of several patterns last fall. I leave it up because it has proven to be a good smallmouth fly. It is designed to draw a reflex strike from the fish. For detailed tying instructions, click here.
