Resident Brown and Rainbow trout: The Muskegon River is a better than average trout stream during the cool water times. The river is rich in food sources, both large and small. For that reason all styles of fly fishing are effective. May, June, October, November, December, January and February are consider prime times for resident trout. Dry fly fishing is at its best in late May and early June.
